So Will & I decided to go to Jamaica for Spring Break. No particular reason for choosing Jamaica. We just had two AirTran vouchers (from giving up a seat on a previous flight) so our airfare was cheap and it was one of the few international destinations they had. So we headed to Montego Bay, Jamaica for 4 days & 3 nights.
So is Jamaica fun? Well... if you are the kind of person who likes to just sit on the beach and relax, Jamaica is perfect for you! The water was beautiful and our condo that we rented off of airbnb.com was beautiful! It's a long story but but basically there's privately owned condos that are typically run by management companies that rent them out like hotels but since they're between management companies, all the owners are on their own to rent them right now. Because of this, there were only like 10 of us on this HUGE resort so it was like it was secluded. It was pretty awesome! Here's some fun pictures of our condo rental!
Well unfortunately for us, Will & I aren't exactly the kind of people who can just lay out all day and "relax." I guess we're just not that stressed because we can't lay over for more than about 20-30 minutes. We get bored. We like to play. So we went into town to the "hip strip." The problem is, the hip strip isn't that hip. There aren't a lot of things to do there and the "town" part is small. So would we go to Jamaica again? No. But not because it wasn't beautiful. But because we need more to do. We aren't total beach people. We need some city life to provide us with fun food, snacks, and general people/culture watching and there just wasn't enough. We still had a great time though and considering our flights were free, still well worth the little vacay! We sure did miss Thugs though and were lucky our friends Jonathan & Mary were able to watch him!
Here are some highlights of our trip:
Eating at the Pork Pit! Gotta get some jerk chicken and pork!
And of course, Will had to get Jamaican beef patties!
Playing around at Margaritaville!
Swimming in the healing waters of Dr.'s Cave Beach!
