This morning we started the day by going to the Akrotini Settlement which was an Ancient city during Minoan Bronze Age (1600 B.C.). The settlement was destroyed by a volcanic eruption and everything was covered in ash. It has been suggested as a possible inspiration for Plato's
Atlantis and is still continuing to be excavated.
After leaving the settlement, we decided to make our way back to Ammoudi Bay & Oia. We stopped at a random small little town for lunch where there were a few small guest houses and a store or two. It was really quiet but a cute place to stop.
After lunch, we decided to get going to Oia but then our ATV started making a gurgling noise. Next thing, we know, we're completely stopped. Eck! Being in a foreign country, we didn't have a cell phone and we were literally stuck on the side of a small road. We were hoping someone would stop soon and we could ask for help but all we could do was wait. There were a few houses near by but we weren't really sure about just walking up to someone's door and not being able to speak English. We killed some time by trying to throw rocks into a stray glass bottle close by and we just waited... and waited.
After waiting a bit, we happened to see a young man who was walking out from a house to bring trash out to the road. We made eye contact and said hello but weren't quite ready to ask a total stranger for help. Luckily, he must have gone inside and told his dad because a few minutes later, an older man came walking towards us. We explained what happened and he so kindly invited us into his house where he helped us call the rental company. He really was so sweet and we were so grateful for his help! It's so nice to know there are still helpful strangers in the world! After saying our goodbyes, we went to the ATV to wait since the rental company was on its way to fix our ATV. Woohoo! At least we haven't lost too much time.

When the ATV rental guy came, we were hopeful that he could do the quick fix and then we could be on our way! Unfortunately, it wasn't fixable! BOOOO!!! The guy said not to worry because they were sending someone right now with a replacement. It would just take 20 minutes. Not too bad... so we wait... Well, look what shows up?!?! This goofy trike thing!! I mean, seriously?!?! It seriously resembles those Fisher Price cars! It definitely didn't have the same power as our ATV which was nerve racking considering Santorini is pretty hilly, but they said that was all they had. What were we supposed to do?! Well, we waved goodbye and made our way to Oia.

| definitely a downgrade! |
We definitely could tell that it was not as powerful as the ATV but we chugged along and made our way to Oia! We went back to Ammoudi Bay and played some more and Will got to use his new snorkel.
Afterwards, we decided to enjoy the sunset from one of those seafood taverns in the bay. We ended up randomly picking "Sunset Tavern" to later find out that it was a top Yelp pick and was a favorite of Oprah. Well that was lucky for us because it was delicious! The fish was so fresh and delicious it was perfect for our last meal! We even saw a couple get engaged which was pretty fun!

| The fish I picked at random. I had never heard of the type of fish I ate but the waiter recommended it! |

After our lovely, relaxing dinner at Oia, that's when the real fun began. What a shit show! It was getting dark and since there aren't exactly street lamps on this steep and windy roads, we wanted to make it home before it was too late. Unfortunately our little Fisher Price Coupe wasn't exactly cooperating. She was chugging along at a snail pace up steep roads while we held up rows of cars behind us! There were motorbikes whizzing around us and I was really wishing we had a seat belt. I was pretty scared but I didn't want to make Will any more nervous because I think he was too. Luckily we made it up the super steep parts but once we started going through the small towns, the trike really wasn't cooperating even though the roads weren't as steep. At a few points, I had to get out and walk and Will had to turn the wheel back and forth to help get traction and make it up the road. Once he got to more level ground, I'd hurry and jump in and we'd make our way. The 20-30 minute ride home was taking forever and felt like it was taking hours! We're lucky we didn't get in an accident or cause one! Then, once we were finally back in town and minutes away from the rental shop, someone honked at us and pointed at one of our back tires. At some point during that insanity, we got a flat!! No wonder! At this point we were frustrated and tired but also a little worried about what the rental company would say or if we'd have to pay anything. We brought it back and basically gestured to the guy "Hey, you gave us this piece of crap AND we ended up getting a flat." He responded with a shrug and a smile that basically said "Eh... c'est la vie!" Will & I laughed and then went back to our hotel. It was time to leave Greece and head home. It's been a long day!
