Luckily our room was ready so even though check in time wasn't for a couple of hours, they let us check in. We stayed at Maki's Place which certainly isn't the nicest hotel I have stayed in but since it is peak season in Mykonos, everything was super insanely expensive. Maki's was affordable, clean, and was highly recommended by a friend.
After checking in, we took the bus to the center of Mykonos. Mykonos looks exactly how you imagined Greece to look like from postcards. Bright white buildings with blue accents everywhere. There were tons of cute shops and restaurants and actually reminded me a lot of Venice with the skinny walkways and alleys. We also went to see huge windmills and the church of Paraportiani.
However after lunch and walking around a bit, it was so unbearably hot they we decided to go back to the hotel. We should have gone straight to the beach but we didn't have our swimsuits so instead we came back to the hotel and hung out by the pool. By the time I jumped in, I had never wanted to get into a pool so badly in my life. It was super hot and the pool was such a welcome reprieve! After hanging out at the pool and relaxing for the rest of the afternoon, we went back into the center of town and had a delicious dinner at a seafood tavern. It was much more cool and breezy and it was so much more beautiful at night when we weren't sweating like crazy. After that we had dessert and headed home! I would love to write more details but I'm exhausted!
